Members of the Enerven team embarked on a journey to one of South Australia’s most remote regions, the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, as part of our ongoing partnership with the Port Adelaide Football Club (PAFC).

Lead Human Resources Business Partner, Alicia Plenty, and Communications Consultant, Cass Bye, joined representatives from Power Community Limited, PAFC players Jason Horne Francis, Jase Burgoyne, and Coach Josh Carr, to deliver the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup to four schools across the region.

The week-long trip combined education, sport and cultural connection, with the group facilitating workshops, AFL skills sessions with the Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Education Committee (PYEC), and attending the vibrant Ernabella Dance Festival. The experience provided meaningful opportunities for students to connect, learn, and celebrate culture. The journey concluded with a special visit to Uluru, reinforcing the cultural significance of the region.

For the Enerven team, the most rewarding moments came from time spent in local classrooms, meeting students and witnessing firsthand the difference programs like the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup are making. Over the course of the trip, the group travelled more than 1,200 kilometres on unsealed red dirt roads, visiting several schools and communities along the way.

“These kids live in such an isolated area and hearing many young female students talk about wanting to become police officers really stuck with me,” said Alicia. “It reminded me how important education is in shaping futures, and how our partnership with Port Adelaide is helping make those futures possible.”

Cass reflected on the broader impact: “Seeing the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup in action on the APY Lands really reinforced how meaningful our partnership with the Port Adelaide Football Club is. It’s creating opportunities and supporting pathways for young people in some of the state’s most remote communities.”

Through partnerships like this, Enerven is proud to play a role in building stronger, more connected communities and supporting the next generation, no matter where they live.
