Hallett Battery project marks major milestone for Enerven and South Australia’s energy transition
An important milestone for Enerven and South Australia’s renewable energy journey was celebrated today, with EnergyAustralia hosting the kick-off ceremony for the Hallett Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the state’s Mid North.
Located around 20 kilometres south-east of Jamestown, the Hallett BESS will deliver 50 megawatts of power with five hours of storage in its first stage.
The project marks the beginning of a new partnership between Enerven and EnergyAustralia, with Enerven delivering the civil, electrical and construction works required to bring the project to life.
Enerven CEO Richard Amato said the project reflects Enerven’s growing national capability while remaining deeply connected to its South Australian roots.
“Our collaboration with EnergyAustralia and Nhoa on the Hallett project highlights our ability to deliver innovative and reliable energy solutions,” Mr Amato said.
“While we now operate nationally to deliver complex energy infrastructure across Australia, our roots are firmly planted here in South Australia. That’s why projects like Hallett are particularly meaningful to us, they allow us to bring our national capability back home and put it to work in our own backyard.”
The Hallett BESS will be constructed alongside EnergyAustralia’s existing gas-fired power station, enabling the use of established transmission infrastructure and an efficient connection to the grid. Once operational, the battery will play a key role in supporting reliability as South Australia continues its transition to a more resilient energy system.
The project represents another step forward in Enerven’s large-scale energy storage delivery program and highlights the importance of collaboration in delivering the infrastructure needed for South Australia’s energy future.
