Enerven wins major Origin battery storage contract in NSW

Enerven are extremely proud to announce that we have been appointed by Origin to construct the Eraring battery in NSW. This nationally significant project is a grid-connected Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) set to be among the largest in Australia. Enerven are proud to work alongside Origin and Wärtsilä to deliver this exciting project and further bolster our activity in reshaping the NSW energy market.

The 460MW/920MWh Eraring battery is the latest in a string of large-scale renewable energy projects secured by Enerven and is another great example of our teams leading the way in renewables projects across Australia.

The Origin Eraring BESS project will provide a range of benefits for the region, NSW and the NEM, including:

  • enabling renewable energy to be stored and dispatched during peak demand, supporting grid stability and energy security;

  • contributing to a more diverse local economy;

  • a capital investment of approximately $600 million;

  • and creating up to 128 construction jobs and 10 operational jobs.

Enerven General Manager Richard Amato says, “The Eraring battery project speaks to Enerven’s proven capabilities in high-voltage and renewable energy. We are very pleased to be working once again with Wärtsilä in delivering a world-class solution to one of Australia’s largest energy companies in Origin.”

Playing such a key role in the transformation of the energy sector is a great enabler to further Enerven’s growth, and this will represent an upscaling of resources across several disciplines which will be in market in the coming weeks.
