Enerven has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people and strengthening community connections through its ongoing support of the 2025 Santos Ltd Aboriginal Power Cup, delivered by Port Adelaide Football Club’s Power Community Ltd.

Now in its 17th year, the Aboriginal Power Cup is Australia’s longest-running AFL and education program for Aboriginal students. Aligned with the AFL’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round, the initiative engages over 700 First Nations secondary students through a unique blend of culture, sport and education.

On Thursday 15 May, Enerven joined the event’s careers and health expo, connecting with students about early career pathways, apprenticeships, and the opportunities available within the energy and infrastructure sectors. The engagement formed part of Enerven’s broader commitment to diversity, inclusion, and building a workforce that reflects the communities it serves.

“This program is about more than football—it’s about futures,” said Enerven GM People and Support Services, Ali Bussey. “We’re incredibly proud to support an initiative that inspires young First Nations people to stay engaged in education, explore career pathways and develop the confidence to lead in their communities.”

“Our team had some fantastic conversations with students at the expo. It’s clear the Power Cup is having a real and lasting impact on the lives of these young people.”

The Aboriginal Power Cup contributes to key Closing the Gap targets in education, employment and economic participation. Through strong partnerships with industry and community, it continues to be a model for how sport and culture can positively influence learning and leadership.

“As a values-led organisation, Enerven is committed to reconciliation and building stronger connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities,” Ali added

“Programs like this reflect what’s possible when purpose and partnership come together.”
