Enerven has secured its first major project in the Sunshine State, appointed by Atmos Renewables to deliver the 400 MW / 1,600 MWh Teebar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Queensland.

The appointment marks an important step in expanding Enerven’s national footprint and its first project with Atmos Renewables, bringing the two organisations together to deliver one of Queensland’s most significant BESS projects.

Located approximately 60 kilometres west of Maryborough, the Teebar BESS will provide four hours of energy storage. The project will support a reliable supply of clean, dispatchable electricity as Queensland’s energy system transitions.

The project is supported through the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), which aims to accelerate investment in renewable energy generation and clean dispatchable capacity.

Atmos Renewables will deliver Teebar alongside Enerven and Valo, which will supply the battery energy storage technology.

Enerven’s scope includes site preparation, local road upgrades and construction facilities, along with BESS integration, a 275 kV substation and approximately 300 metres of 275 kV overhead transmission lines.

Enerven CEO Richard Amato said Teebar would create local jobs and opportunities for suppliers while taking Enerven’s battery and high voltage expertise into Queensland.

“Teebar is our first major project in Queensland and the start of a new partnership with Atmos Renewables,” Mr Amato said. “We’ve built our experience delivering large battery projects across Australia. Being selected for Teebar reflects the trust clients place in our team and gives us a strong foundation to grow in Queensland.

“For the local community, construction will create jobs and opportunities for suppliers. Once operating, the battery will help make more renewable energy available when homes and businesses need it.

“We look forward to working with Atmos Renewables and Valo to deliver Teebar safely and to a high standard, while building lasting relationships in Queensland.”

Atmos Renewables CEO Nigel Baker said Enerven’s appointment was an important step towards construction.

“The Teebar BESS will be Atmos’ first BESS in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and first construction project in Queensland, complementing the over 400 MW of renewable generation assets we currently have operating in the state,” Mr Baker said.

“It is important to Atmos to work with reputable and trusted delivery partners, and Enerven is well positioned to lead the safe and successful construction of the Teebar BESS, including supporting Atmos’ commitments to First Nations and local community stakeholders,” Mr Baker said.

A ceremony at the Teebar site on 20 October will mark the start of construction, bringing together representatives from Atmos Renewables, Enerven, Valo and Powerlink.

Enerven is expected to mobilise to the site in October 2026, with commercial operation targeted for late 2028.
