Enerven CEO shares insights on leadership and Australia’s energy future
In the episode, Richard reflects on his career spanning more than 20 years in the energy sector and the importance of strong teams in delivering some of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects safely and reliably. He also shares insights into Enerven’s growth, highlighting the capability of its people as the business continues to expand nationally.
“We’ve had to navigate growing an unregulated commercial business out of a regulated monopoly, where many haven’t been able to do so,” said Richard. “The investment in renewables in South Australia over many years meant we were right at the forefront of that transition, and the experience we gained placed us well as the eastern states began to follow.”
The episode also highlights Enerven’s people-first approach to leadership and culture, with Richard emphasising the importance of valuing experience, capability and trust as the business grows.
“We’ve always had the ability to attract and retain people — we look after our teams and value their experience and knowledge,” he said.
“As our brand grows, we’re fielding more interest because people see the projects we’re delivering and hear positive stories about Enerven as a business to work for.”
The discussion reinforces Enerven’s reputation as a trusted partner in Australia’s energy transition, with capability spanning construction, commissioning and long-term maintenance, all underpinned by an unrelenting focus on leadership and safety.
