An idea that grew over a coffee catch up went beyond all initial expectations when SA Power Networks and Enerven jointly hosted the Frontier 4.0 conference in May 2018, welcoming more than 250 national and international attendees from over 80 different organisations.
“As a widely-recognised leader in this field, we wanted to create a forum that would connect ideas, people and organisations, and enable us to share what our organisation has learned and developed,” - Peter Barnard, Manager Engineering Design & Technical Services (EDaTS).
Frontier 4.0 certainly brought together the best and brightest from around the world to discuss and share their knowledge of digital engineering, reality capture techniques and augmented and virtual reality challenges.
Wayne Gerard, from RedEye, did a fantastic job of emceeing the event and kept the crowd entertained over the two days. He ensured there was a continuous flow of energy in the room and encouraged attendees to network and uncover their challenges.
“A highlight of the conference was the opportunity for all to participate and the diversity of attendees,” Mark Brownley, General Manager Field Services said. “It was fantastic that the first question came from one of six Playford International College Year 12 students that we had invited to attend. The students really added to the culture of the event and it was so pleasing to see four of them had been offered work experience during the conference.”
Enerven’s General Manager, Richard Amato, closed the event reminding attendees of his message to keep the momentum going and utilise the connections they had made throughout the two days. Enerven and SA Power Networks are continually growing at a rapid pace, and are always seeking innovative, like-minded people, who are not scared to think outside the box.
Frontier 4.0 was a fantastic success, creating new connections for people in the room and beyond. It was important that people came away feeling empowered and inspired, and we believe that was achieved.
Of course, the event could not have gone ahead without the sponsors and speakers, so a huge thank you goes out to all involved. The event could also not have been a success without the attendees who generated the buzz and energy in the room consistently over the two days.
