Enerven has officially executed the 'design and construct' contract for the Summerfield Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) connection with ElectraNet.

The project site, located 17km southeast of the Tungkillo switchyard, involves:

  • the construction of a new 275 kV Tepko switchyard
  • 17km of new 275kV overhead line, stringing on existing structures
  • modifications to the 275kV bay at the Tungkillo switchyard.

Strengthening our position in South Australia

This achievement highlights Enerven’s ability to deliver complex, large-scale projects and further strengthens our foothold in the South Australian market.

John Leonard, Acting Head of Strategy and Development, stated

“The execution of the Summerfield BESS connection contract is a major milestone for Enerven. It demonstrates our capability to deliver innovative and complex projects while contributing to South Australia’s renewable energy goals. This achievement is a true reflection of our teamwork and expertise.”

The Summerfield BESS is a large-scale, four-hour duration battery storage project designed to supply energy to South Australians and the national electricity grid. The battery will power 70,000 South Australian homes daily – nearly 10% of the state’s households – via 222 battery containers spread over once hectare of land.
